Black Bean Brownies



Yes. You read that title right. It does say Black Bean Brownies and I know you probably have a look of disgust on your face but I promise you that I would never post something that wasn't good.

These are amazing! Even my brother said they were better than regular brownies! The Black Bean Brownies are moist and rich. They're sweet without being overwhelming plus they have protein! I'm sure you could make them sugar free by omitting the chocolate chips and using brown sugar splenda!

I found this recipe on Taste of Home, which is the best cooking magazine/website ever, and it is a very simple recipe! I think you should totally try it for your next gathering and not tell anyone that they're not regular brownies. What they don't know, won't hurt them :)




Black Bean Brownies


Prep time: 15 min.
Cook time: 20 min.
Total time: 35 min.
Yield: 1 dozen

Ingredients
  • 1 can (15 oz.) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 C. semisweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tbs. canola oil
  • 3 eggs
  • 2/3 C. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 C. baking cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
Cooking Directions
1.) Preheat oven to 350 degrees and spray a 9-in. pan with cooking spray
2.) Blend the beans, chocolate chips, and oil in a food processor until blended.
3.) Add in the eggs, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla, baking powder, and salt; Blend
4.) Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.        
5.)Cool on wire rack and enjoy!
