Bookish Tendencies:Halloween Edition

Hello! Its time for another Bookish Tendencies post but this one has a Halloween twist! Today I'm talking about three books with a spooky, thrilling vibe to get you into the Halloween mood!

Who doesn't love zombies? Zombies are great although I'm not sure why people find zombies so intriguing. Maybe its their swagger? Anyways since the zombie apocalypse is bound to happen, what better way to be prepared then read the leading survival guide? This book has everything from how to dress to how to fortify your shelter! It is even small enough to carry with you when zombies attack. So add this to your bug out bag along with your years supply of MREs.

"It is well known among law enforcement personnel that murderers can be categorized on a scale of twenty-five levels of evil, from the naive opportunists starting out at Level 1 to the organized, premeditated torture-murderers who inhabit Level 25. What almost no one knows, except for the elite unnamed investigations group assigned to hunt down the world's most dangerous killers, a group of men and women accounted for in no official ledger, headed by the brilliant but reluctant operative Steve Dark, is that a new category of killer is in the process of being defined. Only one man belongs to this group.
 His targets:Anyone. His methods:Unlimited. His alias:Sqweegel. His classification:Level 26 "

This book is very dark but also compelling. It is a crime thriller and to be honest, I wouldn't read it  at night or if you're squeamish. It has videos you can watch with it but I didn't watch them because i was already freaked out. Anthony E. Zuiker writes for the CSI tv show so you know he knows his stuff. I recommend this for those who are interested in true crime books although this isn't based on fact and thank goodness for that.

"A mysterious island. An abandoned orphanage. A strange collection of very curious photographs.

It all waits to be discovered in Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, an unforgettable novel that mixes fiction and photography in a thrilling reading experience. As our story opens, a horrific family tragedy sets sixteen-year-old Jacob journeying to a remote island off the coast of Wales, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores its abandoned bedrooms and hallways, it becomes clear that the children were more than just peculiar. They may have been dangerous. They may have been quarantined on a deserted island for good reason. And somehow—impossible though it seems—they may still be alive."

I adore this book. The story is amazing and the way Mr. Riggs writes makes you feel as though you are there. It also helps that he included vintage photographs that fit with the story. The characters are so likeable and in some ways you can relate to them. The children feel as though they're not exactly normal but really they're extraordinary! Tim Burton is set to direct the movie in 2015 and I can't wait. He will do a fantastic job! This book is good for those who enjoy a story that is different from the normal, cookie cutter YA books.

I hope you enjoy these books!
