{Dream House} Living Room & Kitchen

I hope you all had a great Christmas! Sorry for my absence. The holidays are pretty hectic around here. But I'm back and I'm bringing you the second post in my Dream House feature!

Today is all about the living room and the kitchen. Both of these rooms are super important to me. The living room is where everyone gathers and the kitchen is where you cook meals for the ones you love! I've put some thought into these two rooms as far as the look and feel of them. I want them to warm and cozy with quite a bit of color and retro flair. Let's get to it!

Kitchen

I adore these two kitchens! I love the colors, the set up and the flooring. I would love to model my future kitchen after one of these.  Both of these pictures are from Mid Century Home Style.

I love the two toned cabinets and the adorable floral wallpaper! Plus those metal cabinets are to die for!

I am so in love with this kitchen. I love the flooring, the cheery yellow, and the cabinets. I would have to have doors on the uppers though. My cat would get up there and knock everything down. If you were wondering, a close color to the yellow wall color is Behr's Pale Daffodil.

I'm also loving the appliances from the GE Artistry collection. They're very retro and GE even has colorful faceplates to put on them! From what I've read, they're a pretty affordable option for retro appliance lovers.

Another option for retro appliances Big Chill. These appliances are to die for! But the price is too steep for me.

A huge plus of Big Chill is the variety of colors they have for all their appliances. I'm loving that Jadeite Green!

This is pretty much it for the kitchen. I'm afraid to bore you with too many details.

Living Room

The living room is another vital room in a household. Its where the family gathers to spend time together. Living rooms in the past were one of the most used rooms in the home!

These two living rooms are great. I love the oversized fireplace. It makes the room cozy. I love the colors and floors in the first living room. It is very neutral but has enough color to break up gray.

As for furniture, theres quite a few places to get retro styled furniture. One of those places is Ikea. Ikea is a broke college students dream! They have everything, even food.

The chair and sofa are from the Karlstad Collection. They have quite a few covers to choose from. I like the orange. It's very retro. The cabinet is from the Regissor collection. It's a darker color wood than I would normally go for but  it could be painted.  The adorable coffee table is from the Lovbacken collection and it's got the right shape to fit in a mid century home.

Another company with mid century style furniture is Joybird. Joybird is pretty pricey but there are endless customization options. Here's the sofa and chair from their Hughes collection. The color I picked was Notion Thunderbird with the lighter color legs.

Definitely check out their site. The have loads of cool furniture.

I hope you've enjoyed the second part of my Dream House series! The next and possible final post will about my dream bedroom and dining room!
